and the beat goes on...

We had a bit of a crazy week last week... first of all, Monday evening on the way home from Karate, we were rear-ended in traffic. The individual that ran into us was very nice about the whole thing, but once we waited for the police, etc. the boys were pretty much at the end of their ropes.

Later in the week AJ's runny nose started to get worse and was wheezing when he woke up on Thursday morning... We had been through something similar with Jason when he was around the same age, so I thought I knew what to expect... go to dr., get a breathing treatment, get an x-ray, get an inhaler, go home...

AJ seems to like to make things a bit for dramatic for everyone and therefore his story goes more like this... go to doctor, get a breathing treatment, continues to wheeze, get another breathing treatment, wheezing continues and now pulse ox (how much O2 is in your blood) is dropping... dr insists we take an ambulance to the hospital... go to hospital... needs constant O2 to keep blood oxy levels acceptable... gets an hour long breathing treat (equivalent of 3) and a steroid before showing signs of improvement.

In the middle of all of this Alex is meeting with Jason's teachers who are worried about him falling in with a "bad element" at school... he's in Pre-K!! I thought I had a few more years before I had to worry about stuff like this!! But thankfully his school is proactive and we should be able to stave off any big issues... it just kind of made me feeling like I was getting covered under an avalanche of ahhhhhhhhhh!

After the teacher meeting Alex met me at the hospital, where he gave me a much needed potty break... enough time to realize... i haven't had anything to drink or eat all day... AJ was starving too, although he had eaten a good breakfast thank goodness!!

So... we were able to take AJ home around 4pm... a big thank you as usual to everyone at CHOA, the staff there is amazing and we are so lucky to have them here in Atlanta!

Uncle Ray thankfully, picked Jason up from school (Jason couldn't have been happier!!) Thanks Uncle Ray!!

AJ was home, fed and in bed by 6:30, poor little guy was exhausted, but he was back to his smiling energetic self by the next morning!! Whew!

Boosterthon Fun Run!

Jason is in school, and therefore we have become "fund raisers". Yippee! Hitting up your friends for money for your kids school is never actually fun, however, Jason was so excited about this event, it actually ended up being fun.

They held a "boosterthon fun run". The kids were sponsored so much per lap and then they set up a track at the school and the kids ran laps. Doesn't sound that cool, but to a 4 year old, this is apparently THE COOLEST! Jason ended up running about 1.75 miles, he's got energy, ha ha

Last Day of School!

Thursday was Jason's last day at the Goddard School. We will miss it there! Jason has grown up quite a bit since the first day so many YEARS ago. I can't believe we were there for years! He seems to be handling the switch fairly well. Yesterday we visited his new school (High Meadows) to drop off his final enrollment forms, he said he was excited to attend. It is a school on a farm, so really, what is not to like?!?

The real trick at this point is going to be his first week back at school... just one week before his little brother's due date... will I be in the hospital for our little guys first day??!?!? I know it will all work out, it's just going to be a possibly hectic late August for the Poon's! :-D

Braves day at school - Anti-Braves day at home!

As part of the summer program, Jason's school is having fun Theme Days. Last Friday was "wear your Braves shirt to school" Now, we've been in this fair city for going on 8 years now, but I will never, NEVER be a Braves fan. I can trace this hatred back all the way to the initial days of the "tomahawk chop", arguably the worst fan invention. So when the day came, we sent Jason to school in his SOX shirt!!! Thanks for the shirt Uncle Tom, and thanks to Alex for being from New England, so it is socially acceptable to adopt the Red Sox as my baseball team. (And Mom, don't be sad it isn't a Pirates shirt, we sport the black and gold for every other sport!)

Petting Zoo At School!

Jason was very excited yesterday when I picked him up at school, he couldn't wait to tell me about the animals that came to school that day on a little trailer!

The Little Red Barn Mobile Petting Zoo came to the school and the kids took turns petting and brushing the animals! Here are some photos of Jason:

We got the big envelope!

We just found out today that Jason was accepted to High Meadows! Starting in September, he will be in school Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are very excited about the program, especially their music program and the weekly pony rides! Jason is excited because they have a red caboose and roosters on the school campus!
